DTU Vet conducts research in infectious diseases in livestock. The main focus is on domestic animal diseases, including fish and shellfish diseases. The work covers basic research as well as application-oriented, where the objective often is to develop effective vaccines or diagnostic tools. The work spans from the molecular level to whole animals, to populations and global spread of diseases. The Section for Bacteriology, Pathology and Parasitology performs studies of serious animal diseases caused by bacteria and parasites in animals. In addition, the section develops tools for management and control of infectious diseases. DTU Vet is designated national reference laboratory for mollusc diseases.
